Allen Neighborhood Center (ANC) periodically offers a Culinary Skills Course to people who want a career in food-service and hospitality. Classes are designed for those entering the field as well as those who want to improve their career opportunities. Classes focus on basic skills including food safety, knife skills, standard recipes, customer service, and soft-skills.  At the end of the sessions, students may take the ServSafe test, which is recognized as the industry standard for food safety.  They also offer stand-alone ServSafe testing several times per year. The Global Institute of Lansing is a non-profit organization that aims to provide adult refugees settled in the Lansing area educational assistance and the means to attain a high school diploma. To be eligible for GIL, students must be 18 years and older.  Prospective students must also pass an English proficiency exam.  In addition, they must have received resettlement services, currently or in the past, from a resettlement agency like St. Vincent Catholic Charities Refugee Services, Samaritas, etc. and have lived in the US for less than 5 years.

The Refugee Development Center (RDC) is a grassroots organization offering formal and informal learning opportunities. The RDC offers adult ESL classes, youth programming, and other community education opportunities.

Samaritas serves youth who flee from war, violence or persecution in dozens of countries. We help connect our youth with foster parents, homes, and services to assist them in making a life in our community. They offer a variety of enrichment programs to support refugee integration

St. Vincent Catholic Charities is the designated refugee resettlement agency for adults and families in Lansing and Mid-Michigan.  Through a private/public partnership, our team assist with the basic essentials to welcome refugees to the Lansing community and help them reach self-sufficiency. They offer a variety of enrichment programs to support refugee integration
